Last October we had our first olive harvest as the new owners of Villa Palazzetta. The harvest took place in late October. We harvested more than 2500 kilos of olives! That made more than 100 liters of Villa Palazzetta olive oil. We have about 100 olive trees on the property and it took 4 of us about a week to harvest the olives. First we laid nets out below each tree then we "combed" off the olives with small hand rakes designed to strip the olives off the trees. The trees had been pruned to a height of about 10 feet so one person was up in the tree to get the highest olives. A lot of work, but there's nothing quite like olive oil fresh from the olive press.
